The House of the Devil, 2009. I don’t want to call this an 80’s throwback, that doesn’t do it honor. An hommage to the 80’s/70’s suspense horrors, that’s better. Director Ti West knows his movie history and uses his knowledge quite effectively in this little masterpiece. From the subtle camera standpoints, the editing, the colours, the characters, the plot, the opening credits,… everything is spot on. There’s even a dance montage!! A must for the fans of 80’s/70’s horror. But even without any knowledge of genre history it is a damn fine piece of work.
